A shop car of ours for many years, we started with a basket case of a shell and turned it into the Hemi Orange big block machine you may have seen on the streets of Milwaukee or at Da Grove throughout the late 1990s and into the 2000s. In fact, we won the trophy class at the 1999 Mopar Day and Union Grove, and took runner up in 2000 – foot braking with no electronics! The first build was a mild 440 and 727 topped by a factory Six Pak setup that was good for mid 12 second 1/4 mile times and could be driven to the track or local street racing spot, raced all day, and driven home – and it often was! As always, the urge to go faster took hold sometime around 2000 and the car was completely rebuilt with a 496 cubic inch pump gas stroker, Indy SR heads, 727 auto, and a 4:10 Dana 60. Still running a factory Six Pak it now ran 10.87 in the quarter, with more potential on the table if we could ever have brought ourselves to swap the Six Pak for a Dominator…
